SPRING BREAK 2010 OR BUST!
Spring Break 2010 is what most college students live for spring semester. I am no exception. Mid March comes just when tests are getting to hard, homework assignments are getting too heavy and there's a lull in social activities--it's timing couldn't be more perfect. So when planning for this year's Spring Break rolled around, my friends and I wrestled with a few ideas. We did the beach thing our freshman year, the relax-at-home thing last year, so this time we wanted to do something different. Boy did we ever succeed at that.
The Spring Break options we had presented me with another "Life in Limbo"situation. I didn't know what to do and wasn't feel drawn towards one option over the other, until I realized Charleston Fashion Week was the same week we had off. That sold me. I had heard about CFW for 2 years but the dates never coordinated with Spring Break, so when they finally met up this year I couldn't resist--I applied to be a volunteer. After a month of being "In Limbo" and toiling with what if's if I didn't get in, I got an email confirming my acceptance to volunteer! So while my friends spread across the East this week (some went to Boston with Campus Crusade and others to the beach with their families), I will be in Charleston, SC building my resume and eating at tables for one!
So this Saturday morning began my adventure! Off to Charleston I go....
(P.S.) Just a mere 5 hours and 30 minutes drive... no biggie!
The good ole' car is all packed up and ready to depart from Creekside.
I AM SO EXCITED TO FINALLY BE IN SOUTH CAROLINA! (I don't know why it took me 4 hours into my drive to start documenting this journey... so my apologies for the low number of pictures. Also, I tried to get a picture of the "Beautiful Places, Smiling Faces" Welcome to SC sign, but I was a tad late on that! So you'll have to Google it if you want to see it.)
I-95. Its flat.. really flat. And long. And boring. And short on rest stops.
Charleston! Hallelujiah.
So I safely made it to Charleston and my hotel with no major complications along the way! The only casualty we had was the sweet lady at Chik-fil-a gave me Diet Dr. Pepper instead of Diet Coke... not to shabby for a solo 5 hour drive.
Once I arrived and got situated in my hotel, I ventured my way down to the lobby to ask the the concierge for his advice on dinner. He confirmed that a restaurant I'd discovered online was, in fact, a great choice. Yay! Thank you Google :)
Dinner Night One: Coast.
FABULOUS.
Plantain Encrusted Mahi Mahi with
Blue Cheese Mashed Potatoes and a Dark and Stormy to drink.
Fabulous, did I say that?
Now I'm allowing my dinner to settle and enjoying the comfy, plush bed that I have to myself. I may even indulge in a movie. Holy cow, alert the police--I'm out of control in Charleston! So from the duvet of the double bed, good night everyone and happy Spring Breaks!
