Day 27: London Calling -- Day 3

Sunday - June 13, 2010:

Sunday, our last day! So sad.... we check out of the hostel, store our luggage and head to breakfast. We decided to switch it up this morning and go to the Starbucks in Carnaby. We get our morning joe and then go to the only thing on our list for the day -- Hillsong Church! In case you don't know Hillsong is this big church and they have an awesome worship band that we listen to. So I was pumped to get to go to this church!

One of my favorite elephants I saw in London :)

We took a double-decker bus to Hillsong (it was a 2 minute ride... oh well! Atleast I got to say I rode in one).

Outside the theatre where Hillsong plays. It was in a huge amphitheater that usually has plays going on in it. So expect big crowds for Hillsong!

Once inside we talk to the greeters and they are so sweet to us. We tell them we are studying in Italy and that we're from America -- then one lady pulls over a group of young people our age and she's like "They're from America. They came to see Hillsong. Talk to them!" So the nice group of guys start talking to us and then they invite us to sit with them. Can you believe it? I told you London people were kind. So we gladly take the offer so we don't have to go sit by ourselves! The music starts and it's craziness. I can't believe this big crowd is here for church. It was an awesome sight! Then the band keeps playing and I realize something... this isn't London's local Hillsong band... this is the legit Hillsong United band from the church in Australia! What?? Is it really possible that we ACCIDENTALLY were in London on the Queen's birthday and we ACCIDENTALLY made it to the Hillsong United concert in London? YES! We got so lucky. My friends are going to be so jealous. So anyways, Hillsong United was on a tour around Europe and London was their last stop! So they played for an hour and a half. It was amazing! (I immediately took some mental notes of their new songs I needed to go back and download). There wasn't a sermon that morning because they just wanted the band to play, and that was fine by me!

After church we went and grabbed a quick lunch at a cafe on Carnaby and then headed back to Piccadilly to retrieve our bags. We got them and made way to The Tube, which took us to Victoria Station where we would catch a bus to the airport. Planes, trains and automobiles!!

The cafe on Carnaby had Diet Coke. Real Diet Coke. Picture-worthy.

I won't go into all the details of how we made it to the airport (it was hectic) but somehow we did! And also, Ryan Air was only like an hour late on departure. Not too shabby (sarcasm). I passed out on the plane, so before I knew it we were landing in Rome.

This is inside Ryan Air. It was bright yellow and navy. Becca and I both felt like we were in a Brittany Spear's "Toxic" music video (go You Tube it).

Our plane landed safely and we high-tailed it off of there. We went straight to baggage claim and then straight to the taxi station. I can't believe all the traveling we did -- and that we did it ourselves! It is a very rewarding (and scary) feeling. I would have to say for our first weekend trip of the summer, it was a good start! I don't know how it is going to be topped!
